November Programs for Job Seekers at the Portland CareerCenter

LePage. "We set a record with over 9,200 job listings posted on the Maine Job Bank, and other job boards have even more. Participating employers include Aircraft Logix, Big Apple-CN Brown, Cape Memory Care, Creative Works Systems, Crossmark, Fed Ex - Ground, Green Clean Maine, Home Depot, Leddy Group, Modern Woodmen and Stericycle.Resume Writing: November 7, 9 to 11 a.m.In the current job market, first impressions are everything. Don t let your resume get lost in the stack! Let our staff show you how to write your resume and cover letter using key words; highlight the skills/accomplishments that match each job you apply for; identify " transferable skills" and use O*Net as a resource. This workshop will address: The basic phases of an interview; Do s and don ts of interviewing; What determines the success of an interview; Dressing for an interview; Interview questions asked by Employers; How to answer questions about criminal convictions; and Questions you should ask at interview.Registration is required by calling 771-5627.
