December Programs for Job Seekers at the Lewiston CareerCenter

The job fair will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way in Lewiston."I encourage those considering a New Year s resolution to find a new job or change careers to start now and get a leg up on the competition" said Governor Paul R. LePage. "CareerCenters offer a variety of workshops on your job search and interviewing. Connect with your local center as soon as possible to take advantage of these no-cost services and be prepared."Workshops and events are held at the CareerCenter unless otherwise noted. Recruiters from Central Maine Orthopedics, Manpower, Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care, and other businesses will answer all your questions. Job Search Skills - December 11, 2 to 4 p.m.: It s a competitive job market. This job search skills workshop will give you the tools you need to be successful in your job search. We will discuss strategies you can use to highlight your skills and set yourself apart from the others-it s all about marketing yourself! Orientation for People with Disabilities - December 27, 2 to 3:30 p.m.: For those who are considering vocational rehabilitation services, these sessions are held the third Friday of the month. Service providers are also welcome to attend. Registration not required.CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O Net software for skills assessment.
